Today we learned that Samuel Morse invented the telegraph. He built a line from Washington to Baltimore and the first telegraphic transmission was sent in 1844. Long before
the inventions of the telephone and computer, the telegraph was the best way to
send messages.
The girls enjoyed decoding Morse code messages. We also
practiced signaling messages in Morse code. We said "beep" for each dot and a
longer "bee-eep" for each dash.
