MFW ECC Week 2 - Latitude, Longitude, & Scale

Today we learned how to identify latitude and longitude lines.  Lat (in latitude) reminded us of the word flat - they are the flat lines across the world.   The girls held a ribbon on the equator as I called out a latitude point.  Their job was to move the ribbon north or south of the equator to the given degree. We did the same thing locating longitude points west and east of the prime meridian.

Next the mission: My explorers set out to find islands of North America
(Worksheet from Exploring World Geography)
* hint - Hispanola is the island consisting of Dominican Republic & Haiti *

Last we introduced the concept of scale.  My oldest thought her miniature hand was pretty cool.
