MFW CTG Week 3






What We Learned:

Bible

  • Review Memory Verse: 2 Timothy 3:16-17
  • Books of the Bible (Only Old Testament part) 

  • We read Genesis 8:18 - Genesis 11:9
  • Journey Through the Bible - "The Tower of Babel"
  • MFW Bible Reader: "The Tall Tower"

I'm an so so proud of my girl. Just a few months ago I told my husband I was going to have to hire someone to teach my daughter to write.   I cannot believe how far she has come in just a few weeks.  THANK YOU IEW.

Science

  • Sunlight & Thermal Energy  (Science in the Beginning)
    We attempted this with printer paper, but it didn't catch on fire.
    Our Second attempt, with newspaper, was a success. 



  • Lighting a Bulb with Mechanical Energy 
    We didn't have the proper bulb on hand, so we watched this video.
    A little too corny but it gets the point across.

  • We continued our dinosaur study &looked at evidence of dinosaurs after the flood.

    • Flashcards & Vocab test are free, but we also use "Match it Sentence," "Match It Definitions," & "Which Word?" from the premium activities.
  • IEW vocabulary words.   We played hangman as she tried to guess the definitions.  Once she solved the puzzle she had to write the vocabulary word.

    • We discussed the morals of several fables HERE.  
    • We were shocked to discover that Aesop was a Greek Slave.
  • Dialect
    • A variation of a language used by a group of people.
    • An author may use dialect to give personality to his characters.

  • Duolingo is a fun, free, & fantastic learning tool.
  • Much of the learning happens in the form of quizzes, which switch between testing speaking, listening, and writing. 
  • The grammar and sentence constructions become progressively difficult as you go along. It keeps reviewing previously learned words,allowing you to progress from basic words all the way through various verb tenses and abstract ideas. 
  • We love that we can compare progress with our friends.
